Introduction to Printmaking Class: How to Carve Your Own Stamps

Join us in this 1 hour introductory art class where you will learn the general principles of printmaking as an art medium and how to create your own custom-carved stamp.

I will take you step-by-step through carving your own stamps using simple, affordable materials. By the end of the class, you will not only create a unique design to take home, but you will also keep your own carving tool and block so you can continue experimenting and making prints at home.

Important Dates:

You can choose between two different class dates. Please note that the last day to register for either class is Monday, October 13th to ensure we have all materials on hand.

Choose one of two class times:

  • Monday, October 20th at 1:00pm

  • Friday, October 24th at 7:00pm

Both classes are 1 hour classes. However, if you would like to continue to use the space once the class officially ends, you can pay Banbury Makerspace (the venue of this event) an additional $10 for 1 hour.

Location: Banbury Makerspace, 483 North Washington Avenue Afton, WY 83110

Materials:

All necessary materials will be provided and you will be able to take home what you use in order to continue making/experimenting.

  • Paper, pencils, pens, erasers

  • Carving tool

  • Carving block

  • Ink and inking supplies

You may bring a sketchbook or ideas along with phones, tablets, or other technology to use for references or ideas.

Policy:

This class is for ages 16+. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver.

All participants are expected to behave respectfully and safely with the shared space and materials.

All supplies for the activity are included in the registrations fee.

Please follow teacher instructions on safe use of carving tools as they are sharp and can cause injury.

We welcome participants of all abilities. Please let us know in advance if you require accommodations, and we will do our best to provide them.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY: Cancellations can be made on or before Monday, October 13th to receive a full refund. Cancellations made after October 13th are non-refundable. If the event is canceled by the organizers, a full refund will be issued.

Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. The instructor may ask anyone to leave during the class for such behavior. By attending, participants agree to participating in a safe, supportive, and creative environment for everyone.
